Purple-Rumped Sunbirds

A pair of Purple-Rumped Sunbirds in the garden. The male has a purple-black-yellow throat while the female has a whiter throat. The Purple-Rumped Sunbirds are classified as Least Concern in the IUCN classification. This particular sunbird is endemic to the Indian subcontinent and can be seen abundantly in even urban spaces. They are mainly miniature in size and can be seen feeding on nectar. The Purple-Rumped Sunbird makes a hanging nest made of natural material like fibers, sticks and threads, which can be seen hanging under the shade of canopies.
