A bird commonly seen in small flocks as well as in mixed species groupings, a resident in the western coastal belt of the Indian peninsula and Sri Lanka, and is known to be most comfortable inside the canopy of lower montane forests.

The Yellow-browed Bulbul has been mostly recorded in the wet zone of Sri Lanka, and is quite rare in the dry zone, showcasing their preference for moisture rich forests. The upper plumage of the songbird is mostly shaded canary yellow ending in curved strokes of black color rounding the tips. The song is typically classified as made of whistling with slurring warbles.
